Paying it Forward​

Our family is proud to carry on Steve's legacy.  He was an incredible person - a son, a brother, an uncle, a husband, a father, an athlete, a physician & a loyal friend. Our inaugural golf outing took place in June 2016, and it has continued to be a success each year due to generous support from participants, donors & sponsors.

Thank you to everyone who has already reached out and offered their help with our organization. We are so very grateful. All monies raised to date have gone toward (1) student-athlete education at Michigan State University in the form of a Scholarship Endowment, (2) the Munn Arena Renovation Project (the new Team Physician office will be dedicated in Steve's honor), and (3) advancing esophageal cancer research via the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Network (ECAN).

Since 2021, The Stephen Swistak, M.D. Memorial Fund has joined forces with The Rainbow Connection to begin the process of granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes can change the odds for children fighting their illness.  A wish come true assists children in feeling stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their critical illnesses.  It is our hope that a child’s wish may work in concert with their treatment and contribute to a positive outcome. Four children had their wishes of trips to Walt Disney World granted by the Swistak Memorial Fund to date!
